Omg! YRF Allegedly REFUSES HUGE ‘XXX’ CRORE OTT Deal?

Most of the major film banners are gravitating towards OTT platforms given the current pandemic situation.

But looks like Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films is going to stand by the exhibitors and stick to the grand theatre spectacle for its upcoming slate of movies.

Aditya Chopra turns down OTT releases

YRF’s line-up includes some big movies like the Saif Ali Khan-Rani Mukerji starrer Bunty Aur Babli 2, Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera, Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj, as well as Ranveer Singh‘s comedy flick Jayeshbhai Jordaar.

If the latest Bollywood Hungama report is to be believed, then Aditya has received lucrative offers from multiple OTT platforms but he is believed to have refused them in favour of theatrical releases.

400 crore deal from Amazon Prime refused

A source told the portal that he had turned down a whopping 400-CRORE deal!“After the second wave of pandemic, with no clarity on reopening cinema halls in Maharashtra, Amazon Prime made a lucrative offer to Aditya Chopra to acquire the entire slate of 4 films for a humongous sum of over Rs. 400 crore. However, without even giving it a thought, the response from Adi was a firm NO. The amount quoted by the OTT players would have ensured tons of profit for Adi in a fraction of a second.”

Jayeshbhai Jordaar

The source continued further that since there was no way YRF would sell big-budget movies like Prithviraj and Shamshera, Amazon had made offers for Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Jayeshbhai Jordaar.

Prithviraj

“But all that they heard from Adi was a NO. He didn’t sell a dud like Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, so giving away projects like Jayeshbhai and Bunty Babli is out of question. All YRF films are meant for cinema halls and an announcement on the release dates is on cards any day now,” the source concluded.
